How it works
1
Plan in the IKEA planner
Design your SEKTION kitchen in IKEA’s planner, then print the item list and save it as a PDF. It lists every door, drawer front and cover panel by its IKEA size, which is what makers quote from.
2
Find makers who serve you
Search by postal or ZIP code. Local refacers measure and install; other makers ship flat-packed fronts across Canada and the US. Compare styles, materials and lead times on their profiles.
3
Ask a few for quotes
Send the same item list to two or three makers through their websites, and compare like with like. Listing here is free for makers, and we don’t take a cut.

Custom outside, standard inside
Your style on the outside. IKEA’s flexibility on the inside.
IKEA’s cabinet system is modular and standardised: the same box sizes, drawers, inner drawers, pull-outs and organisers, all designed to fit together and easy to buy more of later. That’s the part worth keeping. Custom fronts free up the part you see, so you aren’t limited to IKEA’s own door styles and colours.
- Add, swap or move inserts whenever you like: inner drawers, pull-outs, dividers, lighting
- Standard sizes throughout, so a maker can quote straight from your IKEA plan
- Already have an IKEA kitchen? Keep the cabinets and replace only the fronts
- Mix and match: painted below, oak above, fluted on the island, in colours IKEA doesn’t offer

Door styles makers build for IKEA cabinets
Every style comes in the standard IKEA sizes, drilled for IKEA hinges. Most makers also make matching cover panels, toe kicks and fillers.

Shaker
A recessed panel in a square frame. The classic, and the most requested.

Slim shaker
The same idea with a narrow frame, for a lighter, modern line.

One flat panel. Lets the material do the work: veneer, lacquer, laminate, ply.

Vertical grooves that catch the light. Often on an island or a single run.

Beaded
Fine vertical beads inside a frame, for a cottage or traditional kitchen.

An integrated grip routed into the edge, so the run reads as one surface.

An open frame for reeded or clear glass, usually on wall cabinets.

One set of IKEA cabinets, any of these looks
The cabinet boxes stay the same; the fronts, the material and the colour are yours, and you can mix them. Pick a look for a new kitchen or to reface the one you have, and ask makers near you to quote it.

Why custom fronts on IKEA cabinets?
The boxes are the boring part
IKEA’s cabinet frames, hinges and drawers are standard sizes, well engineered and covered by IKEA’s own kitchen warranty. Most of what you see, though, is the fronts.
Fronts are where the money shows
A maker builds doors, drawer fronts and panels to IKEA’s sizes in materials IKEA doesn’t offer: real wood veneer, custom-painted MDF, birch ply, fluted oak, any paint colour.
One request, several makers
Prices, lead times and minimum orders vary a lot between makers. Sending the same plan to several is the simplest way to compare like with like.

Questions homeowners ask
Will custom doors fit my IKEA kitchen?
Yes, if it’s a SEKTION kitchen: the system IKEA has sold in Canada and the US since 2015. Makers build to its standard door and drawer-front sizes. Kitchens bought before 2015 are usually AKURUM, which uses different sizes; some makers still build for it from your measurements. METOD is IKEA’s European system and doesn’t share sizes with SEKTION.
What do I need to send?
Your IKEA kitchen planner item list. In the planner, choose Print, tick the items list, and save it as a PDF. A clear screenshot works too. Makers quote from the sizes on it.
Do the doors come drilled for IKEA hinges?
Most makers drill the hinge cups for IKEA’s hinges as standard. Handle holes are a different story: many makers leave them undrilled so you can place pulls yourself. Each profile says whether they pre-drill handles.
How long does it take?
It depends on the maker and the finish: from a few weeks for stock materials to a few months for custom paint or veneer. Lead times are on each profile. Many people install the IKEA cabinets with IKEA’s doors first and swap the fronts when they arrive.
What does it cost to use this site?
Nothing. You contact makers directly and they quote you. Makers list for free, and no one pays to rank higher.
Are you part of IKEA?
No. We’re an independent directory, and so are the makers we list. IKEA doesn’t sponsor or endorse us or them.
Do you make fronts for IKEA kitchens?
Listings are free. Claim yours to add your styles, materials, lead times and photos, so homeowners near you can find you.
